The Northern Bowlers Association has decided to hold its tournament on the last week in January, in order not to clash with Uie tournament of the New Zealand Bowlers Association. Her father had been a very excitable man, and her uncle had been confined in a lunatic asylum, which showed her disposition to insanity to be hereditary. She-had conceived the idea that she was being persecuted by Norbury, concerning whom she had certain delusions. So far accused's husband has been the only witness for the defence, and his evidence was chiefly an explanation of his financial transactions. Mrs LocUer'a case was resumed in the Supreme Court to-day, and will probably finish to-night. Several witnesses were examined to-day, the defence being on much the samo liuea as adopted yesterday, viz, that the incused was evidently suffering from excitement over financial troubles. NAPIER, To-day. A sories of earthquakes were experienced here this morning between 2 a.m. and 2 15. The first two were unusually violent and the most severe felt for aome years, rattling windows and crockery and rousing everybody. At the second trial of Robert Hardie, charged with perjury in giviDg evidence on his own behalf in the Fish assault case, the jury returned a verdict of " Not Guilty," ancl accused was discharged. The Prohibition League has resolved that in consequence of Mr Pinkerton, M.H.R., having repudiated the principles of the League, the League can no longer support him. STRATFORD, To-day. Several of the Auckland members of Parliament broke their journey to Wellington here yesterday, and were banquetted by the townspeople. They promised to support no application to Government to push on the metalling of the East road, and to afford early connection with Auckland.
