9 Cheistchurch, to-day. — Charles Langdown, the young man who was shot at and wounded for being on WagstafFs premises at Papanui, and who was committed to trial for burglary, tried on Christmas eve to shoot Mr Poff, landlord of the Papanui hotel, with a revolver, and ako fired five shots at Constable Tayee, who was amatipg him.
