[Psb Prksh Association.] WELLINGTON, To-day. A fire m a house m Ghuznee street Im* night was extinguished m an incipient stage. It is believtd to be incendiarism, M the fire was built up m a cupboard under the stairs and all the gas jets were turned on. The property was owned by Mrs Lawry, and was only vacated yesterday by the tenant. The building was insured for £500. AUCKLAND, To-dat. A public meeting, presided »ver by the Mayor, resolved to urge the Government to give Vaile's stage system a trial on the railways. A motion by Biahop Cowie was carried that m the opinion of the meeting the adoption of the system will promote settlement, increase production and enhance the prosperity of the people.
