Commoit, Shelton & Co, Ltd, report :— We held our usual sale of Sheepskins, odd lots of Wool, Tallow, and Hides on Saturday. There was the usual attendance of buyers, representing the fellmongers of Napier, Auckland, j and Gisborne. Competition was good throughout,, and we cleared the whole of our catalogue, which consisted of 2237 skins, 38 bales and 32 bags of wool, 9 hides, 10 hogsheads and 35 packages tallow, and 2 bags rough fat. The price of skins was about one farthing per pound lower than at our last sale. The following were the prices realised by us : — Sheepskins, 2d to 5d per lb Hogget Skins, 3d to 4|d per lb Sheepskins (green), 1/8 to 3/9 each Hogget Skins (green), 1/3 each x Bred Fleece, 4£d'to 6.|d per lb Crutchings, 2d to 3Jd per lb Hides, lgd to 2d per lb Tallow, 16/6 to 18/6 per cwt Rough Fat, ljd per lb Messrs Williams & Kettle, Ltd., report holding a sale of sheepskins, wool, etc., on Saturday, 23rd inst., when we submitted a catalogue of 2425 skins, 41 bales and 34---bags of wool, 4 casks and 18 packages of tallow. There was a fair attendance of outside buyers, and we cleaned our catalogue at rates fully ; equal to market values as indicated by recent advices from London end New Zealand centres. Dry skins realised the following prices : Lincoln, 3d to 4f d per lb according to length of wool and condition of pelts ; crossbreds, 2Jd to 4|d ; half-bred, 3|d to 4&d ; green skins, j 3s 5d to 3s 6d ; nearly all well saved skins with fair length of wool made 4d and upwards, pelts from Id each to 2£d per lb. Wool, which consisted principally of dead and crutchings, made as follows : Fleece, 5d to 6d ; pieces, 3d to 4d ; crutchings, 2Jd to 4d. Tallow, 16s 6d to 18s. The P.B.F.C.A. report that they held their wool sale on Saturday last, when there was a good attendance of outside and local buyers, but the bidding was not spirited as at the last sales. The following prices were j I realised : — Lincoln wool, 6d ; locks, 2£d ; crutchings, 3d ; pieces, 3£d ; sheepskins, 4§d ; tallow, m tins, 16s cwt. Their catalogue comprised about 20 bales of wool, besides skins, tallow, and hides. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile j Agency Cox., Ltd., report as follows : — At our sale of wool, sheepskins, etc., last Saturday a representative catalogue was submitted and all lots, with one exception, l \ changed hands at late ruling rates. A good ! attendance of buyers was present, and j competition active. Wool : At this seai son of the year only scouring lots are , i available, which made the following pricesFleece (faulty) s|d per lb, dead 4|d, pieces 3d, crutchings 2£d to 3£d according to condition. Sheepskins were well competed for and sales were— Crossbred up to 4|d per lb, half-bred 4Jd, lambs and hoggets 4£d, green skins from 2s to 3s 9d each. Tallow (rough) made 16s 6d per cwt., and cow tips lOd per dozen. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the followcommercial cablegram, dated London, June | 23rd : — Frozen meat, : Mutton market weak, Wellington mutton is worth 3£d per lb; lamb market unsettled; other quotations unchanged since last cablegram. Tallow market quiet, quotations are unchanged.
