— . « [By Telegraph.— Pnpss Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Today. A young fanner named Robert Edward, aged 25, unmarried, was found dead near Kaiapoi yesterday morning with a gun shot wound in his head. He had been suffering from influenza, and complained ot pains in his head. He took the gun from the house with the Intention ot Bhooting swamp hens, as the day was too ; web ior harvesting. When one hundred yards from the house a shot was heard, and on a child proceeding to the spot she found him lying on his back near the lagoon. Death must have been instantaneous \\ T ELJ,INGTOF, To-day. Marion Allan, aged 24, a domestic servant, attempted suicide this morning by diinking spirits of salts. She left a letter intimidating her intention to take her life. The girl is nob expected to recover. DCJNEDIN, To-day. Bishop Moran is in a very critical state.
