THE MEDICAL EVIDENCE. Wellington, to-day. The evidence of Dr. Tripe at the inquest was that the bullet which killed Gre«nrose passed through his lung and heart, and was so firmly embedded in tho spine that he had to saw it out. There was no bullet wound in the head. An examination of the coat worn by Finley on Sunday proves that the shots were fired from the pocket, as alleged by witness yesterday. This afternoon. — At the inquest today Harry Smith, a seaman, deposed that he witnessed the shooting. He saw Finley with ;\ revolver in his hand. Someone called to accused, ''You have killed him," and he replied, " I could kill any amount like him." Witness fainted on sight of the blood rushing from deceased's mouth. Constable Leahy deposed that accused, Lynch, and McDonald had n row on Saturday night, and Constable Johnston detailed the arrest of Finley. The latter .said, "It was a put-up job, and the seamen were waiting there to give me a hiding, and a man is not going to bo knocked about when he has a revolver handy." Finley also said that owing to threats of the crew, he was afraid to go on board his ship, and had slept on the Wallace B. Flint. Constable Ryan, who had charge of the police station on Sunday, deposed that Fiuley Baid : "I shot the man, and I'm sorry I didn't shoot the whole five of them. What I did I did in self-defence, and I'd do it again to-morrow." When in the cell Finley aaid, " I'm quite ready to swing for it." Detective Herbert said when arrested Seele asked if Greenrose was dead, and on being informed that he was, Seele remarked "That is is the b who laid me out last night." This was all the evidence) produced by the police, and an adjournment was made until this afternoon.
