Per ,Prkss Association.— Oopvtkioht.J WELLINGTON. To-day. Mr Dillon leaves for Westport, Sir T. Esmonde for Blenheim, and Mr Deasy for Napier, en route for Auckland. Mr Fergus returned from his West Coast tour yesterday, accompanied by Mr C. Y. O'Connor. The Education Department have procured specimens of penmanship, drawing, needlework, mapping, etc., from the various Native schools in the North and South Islands, which will be forwarded to the Dunedin Exhibition by steamer leaving here this afternoon. The collection is a large one, and there is some excellent work shown. The Appeal Court finished its present sittings this morning. In the case in which the Official Assignee appealed against the decision of the Chief Justice, who had held that certain payments made by J. S. Kinross, bankrupt, to Robjohns and Richardson, Napier, were not fraudulent preferences, the appeal was allowed. DUNEDIN, To-day. The death is announced of Mr Harvey, ex-District Judge, and of Mr Barnes, exmayor of Dunedin. TIMARU, To-day. A general dealer named George Rolf was found dead on a road near St. Andrews on Saturday evening. He appeared to have fallen from the cart head first. AUCKLAND, To-day. Mr Upton was elected unopposed as Mayor.
