ONE FIREMAN KILLED AND TEN INJURED.

TWO MISSING. To-day. The fires which broke out last night have been extinguished. The flames spread with alarming rapidity, and Collins street presented a magnificent though unfortunate scene. Allan's music shop was partially destroyed, but Mullin's bookshop was untouched, though considerable loss was entailed by the removal of perishable stock. Mr George, who owns a large drapery establishment, which fell a victim to the tire in the early stage, is insured for L 44.000. The other insurances are as yet unknown. The total damage by the tire is roughl estimated at L' 200,000. While the fire was raging one or two walls fell, and John McLeod, fireman, was killed and ten others were badly injured, while two are missing, and it is feared they were burned in the ruins.
