OPENING OF THE QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT.

— ♦ (Reutkr's Telegrams.) Brisbane, this day. Tlie Queensland Parliament has been opened. The Governor's speech on the oceosion stated that the revenue returns for the past twelve months showed that the prosperity of the colony was increasing. The speech promised the introduction of Bills for the following purposes :— To prevent the landing of criminals on the Queensland coast ; to provide for the appointment of an additional Minister ; to amend the Volunteer Act, and re-model the force ; to provide for railway extension out of loans authorised ; and for the recoupment of expenses of members of the Assembly.
