POVERTY BA.Y AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.

A committke meeting of the above Society wafl held at the Masonic Hotel on Saturday afternoon. Present : Messrs. G. L. Sunderlaud (President), Bloomfield, Matthewson, Allan, Bond, and tho Secretary. — The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. — The recommendations of the annual meeting were also read. It was decided that the questious as to the remuneration of the Secretary, and that having reference to printing catalogues for the next show be i iven effect to.

Datk of Show. — It was resolved that the show should be held on Tuesday, the 23rd October next.

Judcjes. — The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr. T. Bishop, Hastings, asking him to endeavor to procure three judges— one each for cattle, sheep, and horses, — at the same time suggesting Mr. J. W. Williams, for sheep.— Mr. G. L. SunderJand stited, having just returned from Aucklan I, and having spoken to certain gentle. uen there on the subject, he would undertake the procuring of judges from there.

Programme. — Horses : The Secretary was instructed to havo inserted tho following : — "Judges are directed to award prizes only to horses which they consider free from hereditary unaouuduess, and, in tho event nf any horses beiug entered in a wrong class, they are requested to reject them." Cattle (Clasi IX.)— To read : Best cow or heifer, any age. Merino sheep, Lincoln and other sheep, pigs, dogs, poultry, produce, and implements, as last year.

Prize kor Ckr als. — A letter was read from Mr. R. Hill Fisher, offering a prize of £5 for the best sample of oats, wheat, and barley. After some discussion it was decided that the Secretary should interview Mr. Fisher on the subject and gather further particulars. Resignation. — Mr. C. Evans sent in hii resignation as a member of the Committee, which was accepted, and Mr. S. Hair was appointed in his stead. Spkcial Prizk. — Mr. G. L. Sunderland offered a special prize of L 5 5s which the Committee decided should be apportioned as last year. Judges. — Produce : Butter, cheese, l»acou, kc, Messrs W. Teat and E. K. Brown. — Fowb : Messrs Murchie and Cox. —Implements and Field Produce : Messrs G. Smith and J. Wall.

Stkwards. — Horses : Messrs O. Smith, C. D. Pitt, and J. H. Aislabie.— Cattle : J. Allan and S. Hair. — Sheep : P. Bond, H. Davis, and G. Matthewson. — Miscellaneous : J. Tutchen, M. Hall, and W. R. Ball.

Jumping.— D. Page, C. D. Pitt, and W, Smith.

Yards Committee. — G. L. Sunderland, Bloomfield, and W. Smith.

Jumping Bar. — The Yard Committee were authorised to have the jumping bar fenced off one chain in width and two chains in length.

Shkd. — The Secretary was instructed to make enquiries as to the cost of a shed 30 x 15, with 7ft. studs.

Turn Stile. — The Yard Committee were authorised to fix a turn stile at the second gate, to keep out all horses excepting those to be shown.

Entriks. — It was resolred that all entries for stock shall be made on or before Tuesday, the 16th October, including thoße for hacks and jumping, which are no longer to be post entries.

Printing. — Messrs. Matthewson and Ferris were appointed to arrange about all priuting.

Privileges.— Gates to be kept by the Society ; Booths No. 1 and 2 to be sold by auction, No. 1 to have choice of ground, subject to approval of Yard Committee, and be bound to supply luncheon for Judges, Committee, &c.

Paddock. — The Secretary was instructed to insert in the programme that a small paddock will be available for visitors to tie their horses in on the day of the Show.

It was decided that the Committee meet again on the 6th October, 1883.
