This Day. The district, including the, town, is dead against Sir George Grey, and strenuous effort are being made to put m an anti-Greyite candidate. Mr. Walcefield is the favorite, but it is not likely he •will relinquish 'Geraldine. A man named Stevens, while under the influence of drink, conducted himself m a most extraordinary manner m the western part of the town to-day. He professed to be the landlord of several houses, and obtained the rents. He also assaulted a number of workmen. Eventually he was arrested.
