Axtgust 5. Mr. M'Nab, solictor, has filed a declaration of insolvency. Mr. Seymour, M.H.R.; held a meeting of his committee yesterday afternoon to ascertain the extent of support he would be likely to receive. He has determined to stand for re-election. Capt. Kenny's address to his constituents is issued. It contains nothing of moment. Mr. George Henderaon is announced m the " liberal " interest. His political programme is triennial Parliaments, manhood suffrage with residence and registration, land laws j calculated to secure settlement on small estates, the adjustment of taxation by an income tax, free and secular education, and no State aid to denominational schools. Mr. Joseph Ward, it is stated, has Cheviot m view, but it is considered certain that Mr. Saunders will be reelected if he comes forward again. A criminal prosecution for libel is to be brought by Mr. Earll against Mr Doherty at the next sittings m Blenhiem of the Supreme Court. A slight shock of earthquake was felt here about 7.45 this morning.
