[from our special correspondent.] Melbourne, Saturday. A bush fire is raging about eight miles from Colac. It rushed . towards a homestead, and destroyed the whole. The parents and five children were surrounded by fire, and struggled towards a water-dam, where a tree fell which killed cne child and desperately injured the father. The mother and two children were burnt to death.
Sydney, Saturday. In the cricket match between Englishmen and New South Wales, the latter made 170 m the first innings, Murdock carrying out his bat for 82. In the second innings the umpire gave Murdock run out. The decision was challenged by the mob, who rushed the ground amid great excitement. The Grand Lodge of Freemasons of England has disallowed the New South Wales Grand Lodge. When the crowd rushed the cricketground, Lord Harris was assaulted, and a most disgraceful scene ensued. Play will be resumed on Monday.
