HURLEYVILLE TELEPHONE.
Tbo following are copies of the first telegrams sent from and received at Hurleyvilie on the opening of the telephone station there: September 18th, 1895. To the Hon the Premier, Wellington.
By first wire. On behalf of citizens of Harleyville many thanks for installation of telephone. Long life to yourself and the Great Liberal Party. P. Hurley, Hurleyvilie. To P. Hurley, Esq., Hurleyvilie. I am very pleased indeed to have your first telephone message. It is proof positive that necessary convenience has been given to the inhabitants of a very progressive locality; and I feel assured that whilst being a boon to the settlers, it wid prove remunerative to the colony. On behalf of the Government, kindly, accept our best thanks for good wishes so well expressed in your telegram.
R. J. Seddon, Wellington. The second message despatched from that office came to this paper.
