(REUTER —COPYRIGHT.) (Received Fob 26th, 1.10 a.m.) ADELAIDE, Feb. 25, A meeting of shareholders of the Commercial Bank of South Australia was held to-day to consider the positon of the bank. The Chairman reported that great irregularities had occurred on the part of the manager and the accountant, dummy advances having been sanctioned by them to the extent of £170,000. (Received 26, 1.30 p.m.) This day. A further meeting of shareholders of the Commercial Bank of South Australia was held yesterday, when the Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that the liabilities of the bank were £1,100,000 and the assets £1,280,000. The cash and securities on hand are sufficient to fully cover the notes in issue. He announced that the manager had without knowledge of tho directors advanced money to no less than nine persons, in order to save them from bankruptcy, and it has also transpired that there is a deficiency in cash of seven thousand six hundred pounds, for which the manager and accountant are responsible. A committee of shareholders has been appointed bo make a full report on the 15th March. MELBOURNE, Feb. 25. The final payments for the Newmarket Handicap and Australian Cup wore made to-day. Thirty horses remain in the Handicap and in the Cup. SYDNEY, Fob. 25. In the Legislative Assembly to-day Sir Patrick Jennings stated that a hitch had occurred in the formation of the Ministry owing to difference of opinion as to who should hold the portfolio of Attorney-Generah Sir Patrick Jennings informed the House, however, that he would continue the task of forming a Ministry without tho aid of tho Robertson, party, Tho house then adjourned till Tuesday.
