The report of the committee appointed to iimpure into the disturbances in the West End on the Bth February is couched in terms of drastic censure, and the measures taken by the police authorities to repress tli3 outbreak are stigmatised as meagre and misjudged. February 25. The Right Hon. Hugh Childers, Home Secretary, has proposed that those persons who snfiered loss or injury through the unemployed riots on Bth February shall receive compensation from the police, fund. It has been decided to hold, a committee investigation into the general working of the, Metropolitan Police system.
