CHARGE OF BOOKMAKING ADMITTED. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLIX GTON, Last Night. A fin “ of £25 was imposed by Mr J. L. Stout, “S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, to-day, when Robert Arthur Watts, dealer, Pi eaded guilty to carrying on the business of a bookmaker in Wellington on February 9. Mr J. Meltzer appeared for accused, who was allowed two months in which to pay the fine. Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said accused took nine small bets on a recent Dunedin race meeting. He told the police that he had been acting. in this capacity for only three months, "We believe that is correct,’' said the detective-sergeant. “His betting records suggest he was only in a small way and was acting for another book maker.
