MISHAP AT WELLINGTON. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, February 10. Wellington's long period of freedom irom read fatalities ended this morning, when Phil Commons, of 25 Sydney Street, Petone, was knocked down by a car on the Hutt Road and suffered a fracture of the base of the skull from which he died in hospital an hour and a half later.
