AN ATTRACTIVE CAR
THE 1939 CHEVROLET. With an. outward appearance that is distinctive and pleasantly modern, the 1939 Chevrolet, which comes in both standard and de luxe models, will undoubtedly be in the forefront of popularity in the new season’s n odds. A bow like the stem of a ship cuts the air and the smooth lines flow back over a body in which streamlining is of the graceful and restrained type. Inside, the trend to modernity is continued with the ingenious steer-ing-column gear-shift, which combined with synchro-mesh gears makes changing effortless. Special features of both models are soft leather upholstery throughout and 600/16 heavy duty tyres, and riding comfort is further secured by Buick type coil spring knee-action sus■Safety of passengers and driver is assured by reinforced all-steel body and hydraulic brakes requiring only a touch of the toe, and in addition the hand-brake, set under the dash, is mechanically operated, giving emergency braking. Brakes on all tour wheels are equalised, enabling the car to be stopped with both hands off the wheel. The many little refinements of the Chevrolet include a device for throwing a current of warm air on to the windscreen, eliminating steaming and frosting, while the de luxe model has an electric clock and cigarette lighter, as well as increased luggage space. With all these outstanding features, combined with an appearance | at once new and attractive, the 1939 Chevrolet, which is being demonstrated by D. P. Ryan's Oarage, should prove a best-seller during this year, and is a car that any motorist would be proud to call bis own.
