TENNIS AT ALFREDTON
MATCH WITH MT. BRUCE. On Sunday a match with the Mt. Bruce Club was played on the Alfredton courts. The weather was fine, resulting in good conditions for the players, and a very enjoyable day was spent. The results were as follow : Ladies’ singles: Mrs Low lost to Miss West. 4—7 ; Miss Harcombe beat Mrs Buick, ~—S; Miss Smith lost to Miss F. Wrigley, 3—7 ; Mrs McKay beat Miss N. Wrigley, 7—4; Mrs Pa.rsonson lost to Mrs Rayner, 2 7 • Mrs Burch beat Miss Kemble, 7—l. Men’s singles: H. George lost to S. Buick, o—7 ; M. Hull lost to V. Buick, 4—7; H. Burch beat I. McLauchlan, 7—5; J. Hull beat. E. Meurk, 7—2; M. Thompson beat N. Wyeth.. 7—6: J. Shirtcliff beat J. West, 7—2; J. McKay lost to H. Rayner, 4—7 ; S. Price lost to D. Buick, 2—7. Ladies’ doubles: Mrs Low and Mrs Harcombe lost to Mrs Buick and Miss West, 2—7; Mrs McKay and Miss Smith beat Misses F. and N. Wrigley, 7—6; Mrs Par-sonson and Mrs Burch lost to Mrs Rayner and Miss Wemble, 4—7. Men’s doubles: George and M. Hull lost to V. Buick and McLauchlan, 6—7; Burch and J. Hull beat G. Buick and Meurk. 7—5; Thompson and Shirtcliff lost to Wyeth and West, 6—7; McKay and Price lost to Rayner and D. Buick, 4—7. Combined doubles: Mrs Low and George lost to Miss West and G. Buick, 3—7 ; Mrs Harcombe and M. Hull lost to Mrs Buick alid V. Buick, 2—7 ; Miss Smith and Burch lost to Miss Wrigley and McLauchlan, o—7 j Mrs McKay and J. Hull beat Miss F. A return match is to be played at Mt Bruce on February 19th.
