The Ross and Cromarty by-elec-tion resulted in the return of the Dominions Secret a rv, Mr Malcolm Mac Donald. Voting was as follows: Mr Malcolm MacDonald (National Government) 5949 Mr H. McNeill (Labour) 5967 Mr Randolph Churchill (Conservative) 2427 Dr. V . S. Russell Thomas (Liberal) 728 The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of Sir lan Macpnerson (now Lord Strathcarron), the former Liberal X ational member, on account, of ill-health. Mr Malcolm MacDonald lost his seat at the recent general election. Sir lan Mac—pherson was returned unopposed in 1931', having held the seat since 1911.
