MUNICIPAL BATHS.

LIABILITY FOR ACCIDENT. The Pahiatua Borough Council recent ly sought an opinion from the Municipal solicitor as to the Council’s liability in the ease of accident or drowning in the baths (which'are inn by the Swimming Club) and a .reply was read last night, pointing out in detail the innumerable bvlaw requirements governing the use of public swimming baths, and suggesting that an accident insurance policy taken out jointly bv the Swimming Club and the Council would free the- latter bodies from any liability.

On the motion of Crs. Siddclls and Mureh it was decided to refer the letter to the by-laws and the Recreation Ground Committees and to obtain quotations from insurance companies as to the cost of a substantial cover, later referring same to the finance committee for a report.
