LUXURY LINER.

The giant liner Normandie, which is expected to capture the blue riband of the Atlantic for France, has left Le Havre for America, on her maiden trip. Madame Lebrun, wife of the President of France is aboard the liner oil a visit to Washington. She will be . tha first President’s wife to visit the American capital. SUPERB SPECTACLE. LONDON, May 30. The Normandie was a superb spectacle when off Spithead. She was ablaze with light, her illuminated name between the funnels standing out in nine feet letters. Searchlights picked her up from the shore, aeroplanes roared overhead and sx-ieed-boiats encircled her, while passengers in pleasure boats cheered. The Mayor of Southampton boarded and welcomed the liner which was at anchor for two hours while the passengers embarked and disembarked. Then with three terrific blasts of the siren she turned round, the crowds at Portsmouth. South,sea and Southampton watching her until she disappeared into the open Channel with 350 workmen still toiling to complete the- fitting before her arrival in New York.
