THE RUGBY GAAIE. (To the Editor). Sir, —It is to be hoped that your leading article a few days ago, dealing with the alleged deterioration of Rugby football in the Bush district, will have a beneficial effect on Rugby enthusiasts. There is no doubt something is wanted to boost the good old winter game. The Union has an excellent ground at Pahiatua, although the grandstand is not very elaborate, lmt all the same it serves its purpose in wet weather. Probably more support would be accorded if the Union assisted the school teams and the third grade players who it must be admitted play quite well at times. These youngsters of to-day will he the “reps” of to-morrow and deserve the best support and strict referees to give them a. good start in competition match res. In third grade matches last season some Teally interesting football was witnessed, but the lack of public support wa.; very noticeable even when no charge was made for admission. 1 understand the annual meeting of th« Union will be held, to-night and 1 hope tlie various delegates will endeavour to push forward anv sound scheme for the advancement of the young players.— Thanking von, I am. etc., “O-LD SPORT ”
