It was annuonced to-day that the Byrd expedition will be equipped with a special radio apparatus to permit broadcasting to the United States, via Buenos Aires. Both aeroplane and two bases wilt serve as broadcasting stations and facilities are planned for Commander Byrd to make one or two more talks while flying over the polar regions. Local technicians have been experimenting for months with a special equipment, studying climatic conditions and other difficulties. They believe that much valuable radio data will result from the attempt. Marconi has cabled to Byrd offering co-operation and expressing belief in the feasibility of the broadcasts.
