Billy Petrie, the Canadian boxer specially brought to New Zealand by the Auckland Boxing Association, had his first contest when lie was defeated on points by Archie Hughes, the Auckland lightweight. Hughes displayed too much cleverness and experience for his younger opponent. The winner’s successful concentration upon bodv punching gave him a comfortable lead on points l . Petrie is lightweight champion of British Columbia and made a good showing.
