HEAVY LOAD OF RATES. Electric Telegraph—Press !\B«ociat>ton THAMES, Last Night. A crowded meeting to-night of Thames Borough ratepayers, the Mayor (Mr S. Ensor) presiding, and Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P.. attending, was addressed by several prominent business men on the question of taking steps to secure an early relief from the burden of rates. A petition for presentation to Cabinet was largely signed. Mr Samuel promised every assistance to alleviate the position and place the representations before Cabinet, and congratulated the ratepayers on their orderly discussion and the absence of personal recriminations.
