NIREAHA CHEESE CO.

ANNUAL MEETING

At the annual meeting of the Nireaha Cheese Company, Mr A. E. Bell presided over a good attendance of shareholders. In moving the adoption of the report, the chairman said: “In submitting to you your twenty-ninth annual report and balance-sheet, your directors do so in the hope that the result of the year’s working of your company is in keeping with your approval. During the season your company manufactured b 29 tons of cheese, an increase «t 82 tons oil the 1931-32 season. The season under review was a most favourable one for production, out unfortunately prices realised for your produce was in one case the lowest in the history of your company. Prices obtained ranged from o< s to 635. The whole of the cheese manufactured was with one exception first-grade, a fact which reflects every credit on your manager and staff. You will note that the cost of manufacture bears evidence - a saving on the season’s working. fhe most important point in that respect is fuel and electricitv, where costs are only £1 9 S 6d more this year than the previous year, yet an additional 82, tons of cheese and one ton 16cwt of butter was made. The cost of manufacture at door has been reduced to ■ Odd per lb butter-fat, t.o.b. ,07d butter-fat, administration and other charges Ood per lb butter-fat. A deal of the saving in fuel was brought about by tlie action of your directors in installing a mechanical stoker which gave every satisfaction m working and thus contrib l a-i al gely to the saving mentioned. Jhe total number of crates of cheese sent forward on consignment WI?M. 727 ? proportioned as follows: !”* e 4062, coloured 3211. Onethird coloured would have , been -424 crates but acting under the advice (>! Mr Cowles, our agent, we made ,87 crates of coloured in excess of recognised proportions which is equivalent to approximately 56 tons. This fact has had a substantial bearing on the result of the pay-out for the season and vour cnectors would like here to record, their thanks to Mr* Cowles for his guidance and advice during the past season. The net profit from the manufacture and marketing of whey butter, was £471 which your directoi? think should be considered satisfactory when the problem of disposing of whey butter nowadays at a payable price is taken into consideration. During the season vour directors installed a bowser for" the convenience of suppliers and others at your factory. Their action has been justified seeing that in the short time the bowser has been in evidence over 2000 gallons of benzine has passed through it. The amount of cheese not sold at the e your books were balanced was 940 crates. This has been taken in at 49s per cwt. The final (Talance in connection with the unsold cheese mil on advice being received of prices realised, he paid out when funds are available. You are called vo-day to elect two directors iu the place of Mr O. Goss, who offers himself for re-election, and a director in place of Mr Fafeita, who has resigned from the directorate. Your directors are sorry to lose the serinces of Mr Fafeita and we trust that to-day some recognition will be made of Ins long service on vour'behalf. Your directors thank ‘ vou all tor your loyal service to tlie company and trust the same will confJ mie bi , e als ? Lave to thank Mr f Jumbleton and your secretary, Mr Walton for their valuable services rendered at all times towards the uell are of your company. Air Terry commented that no delu'ecmtmu was written off. the chairman: We want to give yon all that is in it.” The secretary stated that for last season everything was charged . up to maintenance which m effect provided depreciation. lied 10 m ° tion f6r adoption was car-
