MODERN MORALS. Electric TeJegraptr —Tress Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Stanley Albert Millar, a banmanporter, who was chai-ged on Monday with having committed a grossly indecent act on April 3rd in the hotel right-of-way, appeared before Mr Mosley, S.M., to-day, and was remanded to appear next Tuesday after the original charge had been replaced by two others. The charges against the girl in the case wei-e withdrawn. Millar is now charged with having committed a. serious crime on a girl (whose name was suppressed) on April 3rd, anti, further, with having indecently assaulted the same girl. Bail was refused. AID FOR THE FAMILY MAN. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Family Allowances Act hats been in operation a week. A number of applications for assistance have been received by the Pensions Board. These are being considered and in the cases approved the rst payments will bo made on April 25th. GIRL ATTACKED BY DOG. TAIHAPE. Last Night. A little gill, Betty Dunford. six years old, a daughter of Mr J. Dunford, railway employee at Ltiku .six miles south of Taihape, sustained severe injuries to the face thi-ougli being savagely attacked by a dog. Her cheek was extensively lacerated, and two teetli wore knocked cut. The victim was immediately hurried to a doctor, who attended her wounds. These required the insertion of several stitches. The girl was playing with the dog. when she dropped a half-eaten apple, which the dog secured. Upon the child attempting to recover it the dog attacked her. The animal has been destroyed.
