PAHIATUA CONVENT SCHOOL.
PRESENTATIONS TO VISITORS
A few days ago the music pupils of the Convent and children of St. Anthony’s School, Pah'iatua, conducted by the Brigidiue Sisters, gave a little entertainment in honour of the Motlver General of the Order, who has been visiting the Convent. The pupils gave some choruses. songs, piano solos, recitations and dances. Mother de Chantal expressed herself very pleased and charmed with the performances of the children. After the programme was completed. the parents present were entertained at afternoon tew. by the Sisters in the pretty grounds of the Convent, and a. pleasant time was spent. During the afternoon concert an address was rmd to the Mother General, on behalf of the children, hv Miss Agnes MeDavitt, and she was als* presented with a beautiful set of Mew* Zealand views in book form. Mother Mary Alaeoque. her companion, received a pretty green stone cross.
The Rev. Father T. McKenna, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the children and parents for the pretty gifts, which would always bo treasured up in memory qf their very enjoyable visit to New Zealand, whose beauties and climate they thoroughly appreciated.
Mother do Chantal intends preceding to Sydney on March ‘2nd, and rxpects to sail for Ireland soon after Faster. She is a, native of Tipperary, and cousin of Dr. Fennelly, who r<cently resigned from the Bishopric of Cashel, and i.s much honoured and revered by the Sisters of the Brigidino Order. The latter possess in New Zealand three Convents, and in Australia twelve, besides a few schools taught by the Sisters, who journey several mile* daily to them.
