WHITE ISLAND IN ERUPTION.

Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne. May 1. An eruption on AVbite Island was seen from the steamer Kaipari early on Thursday morning, from 2 a.m. to daylight. A continuous stream of black smoke, in which flame was distinctly seen, rose from the island. The eruption was visible irom a distance of 32 miles.
