The hearing of the King Country sly-grog charges still occupies the attention of the Magistrate's Court at Te Awamutu. Pepa, a licensed native agent, was sentenced to 21 days’ imprisonment. A number of other natives also received a similar sentence.

The Chamber of Commerco decided to take joint action with the City Council and Harbor Board in approaching the Government for the retention in New Zealand waters of one of the warships of the Pylades class as a training ship.
