THE MANGATAINOKA BRIDGE.
To the Editor.) Sir.—l see bv .your report of the last Liorough Council meeting tnat Cr Dawson inferred that I had aeon at least one of the designs for the M.mgatainokn bridge. This is not so, but as Mr Fraser and myself had many conversations re protective works, and as I did the survey work n 1 levelling from which he worked 1 oou.d not fail to have soino knowledge of his proposed scheme. I, at Air Fraser’s request principally. deavored to get plans in, bfl having no assistant to carry on my out side work, failed to gel them ready in time, and after Mr Fraaer had sent ifl his we roughly compared notes of the position of our protective works ; but until 1 saw . Mr Heaney’s report 1 did not even know » his motto. I believe that in a \\ elhngion p.ip*r someone announced 111 it Taraora's plan had been accepted, coupled with the designer’s name, go that there -has not been for some time any doubt as to whose plan that was. 1 am.
