If the electors say at tho slectiou that the number of houses is to be reducsd the committee must act accordinly. But the Act gives them no power to close u lt . whole of the houses in Pahiatua or Mas terton as suggested by you. The first houses to be dealt with arc those whose hcen os have been endosed for breaches f the Act. ihe next to be dealt with are houses which comprise little or no accom modation for travellers and lodgers beyond the bar. The duty of tho committee with respect to reduction* is mandatory on tl; They are to make the reductions ovef whole district and in doing so they take into consideration the convienence of the public, and the requirements of the several localities within such districts.- I a til, <!c., A.
