WIND SCREENS.

There seems still some divergence of opinion amongst designers as to the arrano-e----ment -of wind-screens. The American screens are generally inclined. In England and on the Continent, they are generally vertical. The glare of shop* windows when driving- m town is probably better guarded against by the rearwardly inclined screen, but for all ordinary work the vertical screen seems to fill the bill best. But there is muon room for improvement in screens Une .very important matter is the use of unspl inferable glass. It seems almost ridiculous that any firm should in these days, put on a screen of ordinary rolled plate, when glass may be obtained which minimised the risk of serious injury by being practically unbreakable anrl uii- ■ p.inferable. It is true that the cost is nyber. but we cannot say that it is much ■uglier as to make it dearer in the long ml' 1 10 ** to use the plain varied (here are risks other than the merely personai one connected with the use of ma vT y • g ' aSS t ' screens ‘ A Passenger a era h 'wl,T j, " Bl,dden * l °P- through cl Clash with the screen, and the owner si ssSrSfe %,::ssr&„ n r ,Wn j .i-oici^'XV'^.r^ the most direct method of avoiding this as' \vell 3 ' k " ld V anAl t 110 - v Protect theattS com i' eCn -- , are Kenerally 100 narrow.
