CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY

A meeting of the council of the Clyde*claie liorse Society of JNew j£eaaand. was ileld at iVlasterton on February 15. There were present Messrs Quentin Donald (president, in the chair), R. L>. Knight, A. L. Bremner, W. G. Bark, Jaa. Knight, and A. Hunter. A sub-committee was appointed to investigate the possibility of having a suitable book produced for breeders to keep records of tneir pedigree horses, oattle, and other stud stock. It was decided that(l) Although an animal holds the Government veterinary life certificate, it must pass the veterinary examination before competing for the British Oiydesdale Horse Society’s gold medal ; (2) that careful investigation is beufg made and Mr J. Boag, sen., having certitied to the corrections, the following alterations be confirmed(a) Middlerigg Brown Miss Donald is the produce of Miss Donald (892), Yol. 2, and not of Douglas Miss Donald (1213), as stated on page 28, volume 3; (b) Middlerigg Sunray is the produce of Douglas Royal Mag (1636), volume 4, and not of Middlerigg Douglas Mag (1214), as stated on page 38, volume 3 : (c) that after an animal has reached the age of six years the publication of PC. (provisional veterinary certificate) after its name be discontinued. The following were elected members of the society : —Life member —J. H. Jarman, Darfield; G. A. Wraytt, Balfour; J. Smith, Waikaka Valiev; W. J. Dickie. Mataura; F. Rhodes, Feilding; A. J. Davev, Stratford; W. Fortune, Otama; W. H. Field, M.P., Wellington. The following resignations were accepted : W. Dunbar, Totara: W. Fretwell, Waikoikoi; and A. W. Rodger, Invercargill.
