The monthly meeting o{ the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on the 3rd and attended by Messrs Edgar 0. Hazlet (president, in the chair), H. Price, E. F. Duthie, R. A. Ewing, T. T. Ritchie, J. Nimmo, A. Johnson. J. AY. Blair, J. Birtles, J. Macandrew, G. Black, and H C. Campbell. Apologies were received from Messrs H. M. Driver, James Gow, G. R. Ritchie, and W. O. M'Kellar. The Chairman referred to the bereavement sustained by Mr D. M'Bennan, member of committee, in the loss of his daughter, and moved that a letter of sympathy be sent to him.—Carried. The Chairman welcomed to the committee Mr J. Birtles, recently appointed to fill the vacancy in the Waikouaiti district. The Finance Committee submitted a report and comparative statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the recent Summer Show, and after discussion Mr E. F. Duthie moved, and Mr G. Black seconded, that the report be adopted.,—Carried.—Accounts amounting to £l3Ol 3s Id were passed for payment. Messrs A. M’Farlane and J. Ross wrote thanking the committee for letters of sympathy in their recent bereavements. Betters of thanks for courtesy extended were received from a number of visitors to the show.—Noted. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart telegraphed the president and committee for congratulations on his appointment to the Ministry.—Noted. The Secretary of the Dunedin Stocl»Agents’ Association wrote recommending that Tuesday, April 5, be fixed for the ram and ewe fair at Burnside.—Oil ths motion of Mr J. \V. Blair, seconded by Mr A. Johnson, the date recommended was approved, the agents to be advised. Mr J. S. Douglas, chairman of the Citizens’ Housing Committee, wrote drawing attention to the work the committee engaged upon in providing acoommodaicn in Dunedin during Carnival Week, and asked the support of the society towards their necessary expenses.—On the motion of Mr E. F. Duthie, seconded by Mr R. A. Ewing, it was resolved to vote the sum of £lO 10s to the funds. A circular letter was received from the Director-general of Agriculture with regard to the endeavours that are being made by the Government to revive trade with South America. —Noted!
The question of the nomination of judges in the varioua section* of the Winter Show wae referred to the respective sub-comnuV teea to suggest names and report at novt meeting of oommittee. Various suggestions with ft view to p 1 arising the Summer Show were recocxs mended.—lt was resolved to consider these when arranging for next show. The following new members were proposed and duly elected:—Messrs Simon Calransa (Glen ore), George Booth (North-East Maxhour), R. Brunton (Tomahawk), Charles Irittis (Middlemarch), James G. Donald (Taeranh T. R. Eadleg (Edendale), C. E. EohertipX (Wee t Plains.), P. Heckler (Wafkouaiti), ' > ]f r M'Mfth (RiversdaJe), James Wilson (Sortie East Harbour), Thomas T e-ndrptti (North> East Harbour). A considerable ftmonnt of detail business was considered and dealt with.
