The Swedish Academy of Science hai awarded the 1917 prize for physics to Pro* fessor Charles G. Barlcla, Professor of Natural Philosophy at Edinburgh University, on account of his discovery of the char* acteristics of the Roentgen radiation of th«| elements. Until recently it was hoped .that afteu tho war the Lusitania might be refloated, but salvage experts have come to the con* elusion that it would cost more than thai recovery would be worth.
