GLADBROOK ESTATE
SUBDIVISION FOR SOLDIERS.
A block of land near Middlemarch has been opened up for settlement under the Returned Soldiers' "Settlement Act. There are 22 sections, ranging in area from 64 to 153 acres, and in capital value from £l3lO ap £2270, and the half-yearly rents vary from £29 to £sl. The instalments on deferred payments range from £65 to £lls. -.* ■ .'. - These sections'are subdivisions of the wellknown Gladbrook Estate at Strath-Taieri. They are situated on a flat close to Middlemarch, the nearest section being about threequarters of a mile and the farthest about four miles and a-half from Midd)emairh» There is a dairy factory close to the township. The. sections comprise level, land of excellent quality, capable ot producing any kind of grain or root crop, and ar© very suitable for dairy farming. The soil is a rich black loam on a clay formation, and the elevation is from 7Coft to 750 ft above sea level. All the sections are well watered with the exception of six, and permanent water could probably be obtained on these latter by sinking. Access to each section is by a good road. Possession will be given on July 1, but the selectors of the sections mil be allowed to go on their sections immediately for the purpose of ploughing, sowing, or fencing. The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for 33 years, with right of renewal and right to acquire the - freehold. Applicant* must appear personally before the Land Board at Dunodin for examination at 10 a.m. on May 14, 1919. Applications will ba received up till 4 p.m.. on May 12.
