WAIPIATA.
September 3. —The wsathet cf the past few days has been very stormy ind wet. A good deal of rain has fallen, and it will prove beneficial to the country, which was beginning to becoma very dry. The snow, which has been lying low on the hills for some time, has been melted with the heavy rains, and as a result there is a rise in all the small creeks. Wounded. —Worl has been received by Mr M. Graham, of Waipiata, that his son, Private Austin Graham, has been wounded in the shoulder; but, fortunately, the wound did not prove severe. Prior to enlisti?ig with the Fourteenth Eeinforcements Private A. Graham worked on his father's farm. He was educated in the Hamilton South School. Mr Graham has three eons at the front, two of whom have, now been wounded. We wish them botli a speedy recovery. Military Medal. —Word has been receh-ed that Private Alexander Strode, son of Mrs Strode, of Kyeburr., ha 9 been awarded the Military Medal for ac's of gallantry in the field. He left with the Main Bodv, and served on Gallipoli, and has since been in France. Mrs Strode, who is a widow, has three other sons in The firing-line. Private Strode is the first boy on the Maniototo Plain to receive the decoration, and Mrs Strode is to be congratulated on having such a gallant son.
