HENLEY.
June 3. —-A large gathering assembled in the Native Hall on Friday, May 26, to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Martin, who are leaving - this district and going to settle in Rai.giora. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the enthusiasm displayed by those assembled, both pakeha and Native, went to show the esteem in which Mr and Mi's. Martin are held. Mr Geo. Brown made the presentation of a purse of sovereigns. Mr and Mrs Martin suitably responded, thanking the donors. The social part of the programme was in the capablehands of Mr* John Drummond, ably assisted by Mr William Brown, who was a host_ in himself. During the course of the evening Mr Frank Bardelahen rendered three songs ur accompanied. Thanks are due to Miss Smith, Messrs John Wellman. W. Evans, D Parsons, and Mr Brown for kindly providing music for the dance.
