BOXING.
By Straight Left. The Timaru Boxing Association are booming the tournament they have arranged for October 30, and among the attractions scheduled is a contest between P. Torrie, of Dunedin, and Digby, Canterbury champion. An effort was made to arrange a match between J. Ross and Shutt, but it is stated that the expenses asked by the latter were too much, and consequently the proposal was dropped. The following gentlemen were some of the many representing various sporting bodies throughout the world who were present at the Boxing Conference at the invitation of Mr R. L. GISBORNE, October 24. The heavy-weight championship professional boxing match between Williams (the holder) and Lowe (Gisborne) resulted in Williams giving up in the eleventh round. The light-weight professional contest, after going the full 15 rounds, was declared no contest. SMITH BEATS BRADLEY. SYDNEY, Otcober 26. In the contest for the light heavyweight boxing championship of Australia Dave Smith beat Pat Bradley on points in a 20 rounds match.
