Mr lies, the professional gobu-. informed tho Christchurch t - Press that at a meeting of professionals tield m Dunedin, a Professionals’ Association was formed, the objects of which were to further tho interests of professionals and to act as a medium for making suggestions to tho amateur associations on matters connected with the running of championship tournaments and matches generally. The formation of the association would also make it possible for the professionals to compete for tho five-guinea oup. The officers of the association arc Vice-president, Mr J. A. Clements; recretarv and treasurer, Mr- W. lies; committee—Messrs D. Hood (Christchurch), J. Watt (Wellington), A. F. G. Hood (Auckland). A Bogey Match was played at tho St. Clair Links on Saturday. The following arc tho best cards handed in; Gold Modal Handicap. —E. J. Hocking, 1 down; J. Drake, 4 down, W. D. M‘Carthy, 4 down. Silver Medal Handicap.—P. Kahlonberg, all square; N. Tho morning was bright, but a strong south-west wind proved very disconcerting for the competitors. Notwithstanding this, B. J. Smith went round in 79, a very creditable performance. In the afternoon tho wind fortunately died away, and tho second round was played under ideal conditions. Smith returned a similar score in the afternoon and won th<j Bruntsfield Medal with a score of 158. His nearest opponent was J. R- Park, with 169. The handicap in connection with the morning round resulted in a tie between F. J. Du Croz (85—5-80) and E. H. Wilrnot (104 24—80), and Andrew Todd won the afternoon handicap with a round of 82, lees a handicap of 6, leaving a not score of 76. Tho best cards for the two rounds were:

Links yesterday between the Timaru and Otago Golf Clubs for the Orbell Cup. the result of a chalenge from the Timaru Club to the Otago Club, the holders.
