MR BOTTOMLEY’S DEB

LONDON, Decomber 29. Mr Bottomlcy has filed liabilities amounting to £170,000, but proofs of claims to the amount of £220,700 have been received. The official receiver states that Mr Bottomley’s estimated assets (?) are £3-6,000, "but he is very doubtful regarding their realisable value. The debtor received £2OOO yearly for the editorship of the newspaper John Bull, besides £4OOO, being 10 per cent - i ts nefc profits. About throe weeks ago Mr Bottomlcy, M.P. (Liberal, South Hackney) and editor and proprietor of the newspaper John Bull, who has recently figured in much litigation in the courts, has filed a voluntary petition in bankruptcy in order to protect the assets of his estate'against litigants. A receiving order was granted.
