AUSTRIAN AFFAIRS

RELATIONS WITH GERMANY. INCREASING THE ARMY. VIENNA, December 29. Addressing the Delegations of the dual kingdom. Dr Kraemar referred to the danger of Austria’s close relationship with Germany, whereby she might be drawn into a world’s conflict with which she was not in any way concerned. Austria had to thank Great Britain for her intervention and bringing about a peaceful settlement of the Moroccan trouble. The Government of Austro-Hungary adheres to the Franco-German Treaty. Addressing the Delegations, the Foreign Minister (Baron Aehrenthal), in the course of his speech, stated that an increase of 30,000 effectives in the number of the Austrian army was required for the protection and the safety of the dual nation, and to enable Austria to cooperate with her allies in the interests of general peace.
