LONDON,. May 50. The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, sitting- at Edinburgh, welcomed representatives from Australia- and New Zealand —the Rev. John Mackenzie, of Christchurch, and the Rev. Mr Thompson, of Masterton. The colonial deputies delivered brief addresses, urging that Australian and New Zealand ministers were doing their best to overtake the constantly increasing demands. It Avas not money, but men that were wanted in the overseas dominions, and they appealed to the Church of Scotland to send good men. The General Assembly of the United Free Church discussed the problems of colonial Presbyterianism, including colonial students at the Scottish universities and theological halls. Dr Kelman said that if they were going to send religion to Australia the sky pilot, must go along with the surveyor, merchant, and pioneer; otherwise the first claim would be jumped.
