LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES.
FURTHER AMALGAMATION PROPOSED. WELLINGTON, April 22. An arrangement is proposed for the union of the businesses of the Mutual Life and Citizens' Assurance Company and the Australian Widows' Fund Li'e Assurance Society, and the policy-holders of the latter institution are at present being communicated with asking if they approve of the scheme. It is stated in the circulars being issued that the r>roposed arrangement will result in a company beine; established which will be stronger than either institution taken separately, and it will consequently be able to offer the policy-holders of 'both institutions ?rentrr benefits than would otherwise be possible, and that it is in order to secure for the societies' members .such largely increased benefits in the future that the directors strongly recommend the proposed arrangement.
