REFUSING ACCOMMOD A TION".

CHRISTCHURCH, April 22. Mr Bailey, S.M., gave judgment to-day in a case in which the licensee of the Wharf Hotel, Woolston, was charged with refusing accommodation. The defence was that the applicant for accommodation, who was a cattle drover, was suspected of being a thief. The magistrate held that a hotelkeeper had no right to discriminate on the ground of mere suspicion, and inflicted a penalty of 10s and costs. .
