Concert and Social. — The concert and social 'to celebrate the opening of the new school was largely attended, although the night was very wet and dark. Mr T. H. Russell was in the chair in the unavoidable absence of Mr M. Henderson. After the concert refreshments, provided by the ladies, were handed round, and after the usual rotes of thanks the floor was cleared, and dancing was indulged in for an hour or two. Mrs Hare, Misses Ross and Henderson, and Rev. Howes- played the accompaniments during the evening. The following is the programme: — Screen song, SohoolgirJs; solo ("The skipper"), Mr Amott; recitation (Scotch), Miss Hamilton (encored) ; song ("The valley by the sea"), Mrs Hare; reading (Scotoh), Mr Somerville; recitation, Mr Christie; duet ("money matters").
