OUTRAM.
August 24-.— The Bowling Club's first annual concert and daiice was held in the Societies' Hall on Friday, 21st inst., a large and enthusiastic audience being present. The proceedings were opened by the quartet party — Messrs Saltor, Jago, Kent, and Hopcraft (Dunedin) — who sang " The Old Brigade" (encored), and also gave the quartets "Holy City," Scot's Wha Hae," and others. Songs ware rendered by Mrs Brookes (Mosgiel), "Robin Adair" (encored) and "Coming through the R3*e" (encored) ; Miss Sparrow (Mosgiel), "Daffodils" and that taking little song "The Gift"; Mr Salter "Doreen" ; Mr White, "The last Muster"; Mr Jago, a stirring rendering of "The Highlandman's Toast" ; and Mr Kent, "The MLghty Deep." The commit ta were fortunate in securing the services of Mr Percy James, who gave several humorous sketches, all of which were encored. The duets "Excelsior" and " Strictly Proper" were capitally sung by Messrs Hoporaft and Jago. Mr D. Ccoke (Dunedin), made a most efficient accompanist. The dance was most successful and was continued till the 6maH hours of the morning. M'lntyre's Orchestra (Mosgiel), supplied the music. Tennis Club. — The annual meeting^of the Tennis Club was held on the lOfch inst., Mr F. M. Wrigihfc presiding. The balance sheet showed a most ' satisfactory balance. It was decided to hold a social on September 21. Football. — A football match between the Outram and Mbagiel Bible Classes was played on the local ground on Saturday, 22nd inst., a keenly contested game resulted in a win for Outram by nine points to eight. In the evening ' the visitors were entertained by the ladies of Outram Bible Class.
